Our Statement on the 20-Year Ban

Our Statement on the 20-Year Ban

“We at the Native Americans for Sovereignty and Preservation express our deep disappointment and concern over the recent decision to ban oil and gas drilling on Navajo Nation lands. This decision disregards the sovereignty of the Navajo Nation and undermines their ability to manage their resources. We stand in solidarity with Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren and Council Speaker Crystalyne Curley in opposing this ban. We believe in the rights of Native American tribes to make decisions that best serve their people and their lands. This ban threatens the economic stability of the Navajo Nation and sets a precedent for the autonomy of all Native American tribes. We urge a reconsideration of this decision in respect of the sovereignty and self-determination of the Navajo Nation.”
